On Sunday the 13th of August I had the pleasure of attending the Shelancers “Let’s meet up” event held in InSpire at St Peters in Elephant and Castle.
This Intimate evening was full of fun and consisted of great advice, insightful interviews and of course the opportunity to network.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the amazing presenter Nush Cope who was our host for the evening. Nush did a spectacular job and did not fail to keep us inspired and engaged all evening.
Celebrity Make Up artist Abbie May was the first of three guest speakers to share her story. Abbie shared with us her journey into getting started in the makeup industry from working at various makeup stores including mac cosmetics for only 6months to leave and pursue her dreams.
She shared with us that Taking the risk and working as a freelancer was an amazing life decision as she knew that make up was her passion and pursued it whole heartedly.
Presenter and Dj Tinea Taylor was the second interview of the evening to take place.

Before diving into the third interview for the evening a speed “dating” networking session took place.
Everyone in attendance got the opportunity to get to know one another briefly for one minute before moving onto a new person. This worked just It would if you’ve ever been to a speed dating meeting and It was a great way to network.
By the end of the day, the majority of the people in the room had established a connection with another person and we all felt somewhat connected one way or another.
Last but not least to be interviewed was the inspirational Priscilla Owusu.
At only 20 years of age, Priscilla is a screenwriter and producer who has managed to achieve many great accomplishments at such a young age. Her words of wisdom had the room clapping and in awe of her dedicated to her craft.
Staying focused on your own journey and not being discouraged by the paths others are taking that may appear to be more success were just a few of the pellets of wisdom Priscilla shared.
